NEW YORK HUT

Before operating a motor vehicle on the public highways of New York State, the carrier must obtain a registration certificate and decals for each motor vehicle subject to the highway use tax. It is a weight distance tax based on the vehicle weight and miles driven by the commercial motor vehicle on New York highways. 

A carrier needs a New york HUT if the vehicle travels through New York is above 18000 Pound. New York HUT tax files every quarter.

The carriers using New York highways occasionally, instead of registering for New York HUT, can apply for the trip certificate. The certificate is valid for one trip only.

NEW MEXICO

The New Mexico (NM) weight distance tax permit is required for commercial vehicles having a declared gross vehicle weight of 26000 pounds or above to travel through New Mexico. As the name implies, the tax base is on mileage traveled on New Mexico highways at a rate determined by the vehicle’s weight. Once the NM Weight Distance ID is issued, must file quarterly reports.

OREGON 

Oregon’s Highway-Use Tax is a weight-distance tax based on the number of miles traveled in Oregon and the weight of the vehicle. You need an Oregon Weight Receipt and Tax Identifier if your vehicle travels through Oregon and has a gross weight of more than 26,000 pounds. Once Oregon issues a permit must file monthly reports. If the carrier account stands on good terms after a year, the carrier may apply to report quarterly. Additionally, to an ODOT weight receipt and tax identifier number, Oregon needs a bond of all new carriers which varies carrier to carrier.

KENTUCKY

The KENTUCKY weight distance tax permit is required for commercial vehicles having a declared gross vehicle weight of 60000 pounds or above to travel through KENTUCKY. As the name implies, the tax base is on mileage traveled on KENTUCKY highways at a rate determined by the vehicle’s weight. Once the KENTUCKY Weight Distance ID is issued, must file quarterly reports.
